Kitesurfing School in Koh Phangan

How to choose a kite school in Koh Phangan

A good kitesurfing school in Koh Phangan is more than equipment rental. Look for IKO-certified instructors, a school located right on the beach (no transfers, more time on the water), modern well-maintained gear and radio-helmet coaching so your instructor can talk you through every move. Kite Club ticks every box: all instructors hold IKO Level 2+ certification, we ride Slingshot kites (2025–2026) and teach in English, Russian, Arabic, German, Ukrainian and Thai.

IKO kitesurf courses for every level

Every course follows the IKO system: safety and wind theory, kite control on the beach, body dragging, water starts, first rides and finally riding upwind. The Discovery Course (2 hours, 3,500 THB) is the one-day taster, the Beginner Course (11,000 THB) gets you riding, and the Independent Course (18,000 THB) ends with IKO Level 3 — an internationally recognised card that lets you rent gear at any kite spot in the world.

Where we teach

Our kiteschool sits on the reef-protected flat-water lagoon at Thong Sala Beach — knee-deep, sandy and ideal for beginners in the SE season, mid-January–April. From June to October the SW monsoon brings stronger, choppier conditions at Thong Sala and Baan Tai, and in November–December experienced riders move to Chaloklum on the north shore.

Beyond kitesurfing

The same school teaches wing foil (IWO certified), windsurfing and e-foil, so you can switch sports with the wind. Once you ride upwind, join the club: rent gear, store your own kit next to the water and ride with the local community every day.

Wing Foil Intro
★★★★★

"I was a total beginner and initially signed up just for the intro class, then added another 2 hours. Roman was a great teacher — clear explanations, good structure, very patient. Safety was top priority but he ensured I had fun too. Highly recommended!"

Beginner Course
★★★★★

"I had two days of lessons with Abdoul. I've taken kitesurfing lessons in several countries but this was by far my best experience. The equipment was professional. You were provided with a walkie-talkie, which made communication on the water easy."
